I bought sally hansen nail polish and OPI nail polish..?

i know very little about nails. i cut them and then put on one layer of nail polish

i notice that within 3 days, the polish starts to flake off (especially obvious when the color i applied is darker as opposed to pink) i don't bite my nails, but i do chores around the house

is it the nail polish? or the way i apply it? or something else ?I bought sally hansen nail polish and OPI nail polish..?
You need to apply base coat, two thin coats of polish, and top coat. Let them all dry fully before applying next coat. And wear gloves while doing dishes and stuff like that. You may have to try out different base and top coats to find what works best for you. Good luck!I bought sally hansen nail polish and OPI nail polish..?
OPI %26amp; Sally Hansen are both good quality nail polishes, but ALL nail polish will eventually chip off. To make polish last be sure you've buffed your nails so any chips in the nail are not there to create a poor base for polish. Next, always apply a base coat, especially when using dark colors, it helps the polish to last longer and prevents staining of the nail caused by dark colors. Then apply two coats of colored polish, letting each coat dry between applications. Last, finish with a top coat - which is a clear polish, that helps to set the polish and also minimizes and flaws. Apply a base coat every day to prolong the manicure and always wear gloves when doing chores to prevent chipping.
base coat, 2 thin coats and a top coat is the way to go. if you have ever had your nail professionally done, that's how they usually do it.

OPI is great nail polish too, so using the base and top coat will really make it last!
well all the nail polishes will chip if you do chores like washing the dishes or something.. but what helps the nailpolish stay on longer is if you put on a clear coat on top, it helps to keep it together
you need two coats of color and a coat of clear -- one coat of polish is just not enough.
